STRIKING YOUNG IMMIGRANT FAMILY DRESSED FOR WINTER : COTTAGE GROVE, OREGON

This striking vintage real photo postcard features a portrait of a young mother and father standing behind their little girl. The family is dressed for winter. The Gentleman is wearing a cap and holding an umbrella. Mom is wearing a scarf on her head and around her neck. The little girl is looking at the photographer and has an expression that says she is not sure of what is going on and she is not at all happy about being photographed. As stated earlier, there is something striking about this image. Perhaps it is because the family appears to be down and out. Their being a troubled family is certainly just my subjective perception. This photograph was taken by the Monroe & Armstrong studio, located in Cottage Grove, Oregon. The AZO stamp box reveals that the card dates back to sometime between 1904-1918. The postcard is in very good condition (see scans).

PRETTY FASHIONISTA : FAMOUS PHOTOGRAPHER ANDREW PATERSON : GLASGOW, SCOTLAND

This cabinet card features a pretty young woman beautifully dressed. This fashionista knew how to put together a wardrobe. She is wearing a lovely dark coat with fur accents. She also has her hands in a fur muff. Her accessories include a cameo locket and an umbrella. There is also a white object that can be seen on the top right part of the subject’s coat. It is part of the photo and not a tear or scrape. Is it a handkerchief? A dying flower? I can not identify it. This cabinet card portrait was taken at the Paterson’s Photographic Company in Glasgow, Scotland.  (SOLD)

FASHIONABLE WOMAN : WINTER ATTIRE ; AUSTIN, TEXAS

This vintage photograph features a fashionable woman posing for her photograph at an unidentified location. She is wearing winter clothing, including gloves. She is also wearing a pillbox hat. This style of hat was popular during the 1930’s and especially in the 1950’s and 1960’s. This photo was found in an antique shop in Austin, Texas. PRETTY WOMAN OUT FOR A WINTER WALK IN THE SNOW BY A LAKE

This vintage real photo postcard features a young woman out for a winter walk in the woods. There is snow on the ground and the pond (lake) is partially iced over. The woman is dressed warmly. She is wearing a long winter coat and has a fur wrapped around her shoulders. Note her winter hat. This postcard was published by Alfred Noyer as part of a series (No. 2750). The card is in very good condition (see scans).

This vintage real photo postcard features a little girl dressed in winter clothing and carrying a miniature suitcase. The “suitcase” may actually be a pocket book. Note the child’s button shoes. The postcard’s AZO stamp box dates this card to sometime between 1904 and 1918. SOLD

PRETTY LITTLE GIRL SMILING IN A SNOW FLURRY

This vintage real photo postcard features an adorable little girl flashing a wonderful smile. Snow flakes fall around her. She is dressed for winter wearing a cape and winter hat. She is holding a muff to protect her hands. Note the pink ribbon in her hair and the flowers in the foreground. These must be hardy flowers to look so pretty in the wintertime. A PROUD MOTHER POSES WITH HER INFANT NESTLED SNUGLY IN A PERAMBULATOR

This vintage real photo postcard features a pretty mother posing with her infant child lying comfortably in a vintage perambulator (baby carriage). The carriage is large and looks very secure. Imagine a parent trying to fit one of these “monsters” into the back of their automobile. I think it’s a safe bet that this perambulator did not fold smaller for easy transport. Mom looks very proud and very happy as she stands behind her baby. She is bundled up for winter weather. Note her leather gloves and fur scarf. The baby appears to be bundled up warmly for the venture outdoors. The child has a “nook” in his/her mouth. This photo is from a studio; it is not mass produced. This photo postcard is in very good condition (see scans).

This tintype photograph features a well-dressed and pretty young woman. She appears to be dressed for winter. She is wearing a dark heavy dress and a cape. She looks very pleasant and has a lovely smile. Tintypes were popular in the 1860’s and 1870’s. Over time, they were replaced by Carte de Visites and Cabinet Cards. This lovely tintype portrait measures about  2 1/2″ x 3 3/8″ and is in excellent condition (see scans).    (SOLD)

This vintage photograph features a little boy sitting on his wooden sled atop snow covered ground. He is not dressed in a particularly warm fashion. In fact, his ears are exposed to the cold. This vintage postcard measures about 4 1/4″ x 6 1/4″ and is in very good condition (see scans).
